Parent Coordinator
Position Summary
The Sustainable Community Schools (SCS) Parent Coordinator plays a key role in creating a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging environment for families and community members. This position connects parents to school and community resources, leads adult education and engagement programs, and strengthens relationships between families, schools, and community partners. Guided by the SCS framework, the Parent Coordinator promotes equity, authentic engagement, and a whole-child approach to student and family success.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the main contact for parent and community programming, including the Parent Mentor Program.
Connect families with SCS activities, resources, and wraparound supports.
Foster a positive, culturally relevant, and family-friendly environment that promotes equity and inclusion, and uphold SCS pillars
Plan, coordinate, and manage adult education programs, workshops, and family engagement events.
Maintain accurate attendance and participation records in Cityspan.
Build trusting relationships with parents, school staff, and community partners through transparency and collaboration.
Facilitate parent leadership through the SCS Leadership Team and support authentic family participation in decision-making.
Support parent-led initiatives and workshops, empowering families to share knowledge and take leadership roles.
Collaborate with school and community partners to offer programs such as GED, ESL, workforce development, and certification courses.
Promote parent involvement in leadership development, social-emotional learning, health services, and community-building activities.
Track and analyze participation data to improve family engagement outcomes.
Support the promotion and visibility of school and community successes.
Attend SCS professional development sessions and team meetings.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
Eligible to work in Chicago Public Schools (CPS) with successful background check
Professional, empathetic, and equity-driven approach
Ability to build positive relationships with parents, students, staff, and administrators
Strong organizational skills and attention to details
Work Conditions
Full-time position; schedule may include occasional evenings or weekends for events and meetings
Competitive pay based on experience - up to $50,000 annually, paid on a semi-monthly basis (twice per month)
